With games resuming after the Christmas New Year break, Cronulla hosted Manly at Tom Evans Field Wednesday night.
Cronulla took an early one run lead after a successful bunt to Blake who then crossed the plate on a Josh Dean hit. Scores stayed the same until the fifth innings when Manly posted three runs to go ahead 3 runs to 1. In the bottom of the fifth however, Cronulla hit back strongly through a hit to Blake, a walk to Alex H. and then a monster centre field drive to Josh Dean which landed just on the field side of the 400 foot boundary fence and over for a ground rule double scoring Blake. A further hit to Nick Gates scored another and at the end of the fifth Cronulla had taken a 4 runs to 3 lead.
In the sixth, Brett Elliot shut down the Manly hitters and with time running out Cronulla took the field at the bottom of the sixth and when time was called had added an additional run, after Jackson Mannix triple to centre field. Time was called and Cronulla had completed the win.
Blake Cavill had a big night with 4 hits and Josh Dean 2. Alex Howe continued his quality at bats with 3 walks in total. RBI's to Josh Dean with 2.
Dean Aldridge completed four innings and Brett Elliot closed it out with 2 innings for the win
